America The Beautiful or America The Greedy?

We are still America the beautiful! We have spread ourselves too thin for years trying to help others & not for gain, but just to help. Did it ever occur to you why we are out of so many natural resources? In the past 110 yrs. we have been engaged in 5 major wars, to help other nations. This took a lot oil, steel, bronze, zinc, etc. that we had in abundance before we felt the need to help others. How stupid of us! Perhaps we are a bit boastful, but we have good reason to be proud of ourselves. Now we are in trouble as a nation & yes, it is because we have spoiled ourselves. The only answer I can give you is that we will pull out of this & be stronger than ever because a little suffering makes a nation stronger! We have learned that we cannot continue to use gas as freely as before & it's not just the cost that is stopping most of us, it's the fact that we are at the mercy of countries that we are finding unfriendly! I don't happen to want their darn gas! So I drive a whole lot less than I used to, I combine my driving with things that can be done at the same time. I & 1 other neighbor recycle. All of my light bulbs are ecobulbs. When we turn the oven on we cook, at least, 3 things at the same time. As for the war, this is not the type of war that we like to fight, we were totally unprepared for this type of fight! Even though it was fought this way in Vietnam, we never really got used to people using women & children as weapons. I feel that our troops have done a wonderful job! Maybe we shouldn't be there but we are, so we will have to make the best of a bad situation until we can leave them strong enough to stand on their own. No, we are not too high on that pedestal, we do not stand high enough on it! If the world turns it's back on us, it will be their loss, not ours!
