Confusing situation with ex?

We had broken up a long time ago (i'm talking years) and we started talking again out of the blue, we hung out, even had a moment (we made out - - he initiated it) and the whole night was great, we just clicked like the good old days, and we held hands the whole time. but after that, he just stopped talking to me, before we hung out, he'd text and call all the time, but now he rarely ever does. and that's if I text or call first, and believe me, I don't do it all the time. Maybe once a month, i'll try to talk to him. He's told me he wants to see me again another day, to maybe watch a movie or something, but he never actually puts in the effort to ask me. I've never complained to him about it and we always talk on friendly terms, we never bring it up and I never talk to him bitterly, but inside, it really bothers me. I guess my question is, should I just leave it like it was? Should I just stop talking to him? Years before, when he ended things, I was really hurt and I don't want to go there again, but we've both changed and I think if we try things again, maybe we can have something strong and good. But based on what I have described, do you think I'm the only one who feels that way? Do you think he really doesn't want anything to do with me...besides maybe be friends?
