My aunt, who I was very close with died. She didn't leave a will. However, she had some considerable ets?
One of those ets is an IRA with a value of around $250k. At the time of death, there was no named beneficiary, however after searching through her files, she had printed out a page on the internet naming me as the beneficiary right before she clicked "add" on the website. The custodian of her IRA says that since there is no beneficiary, the money will go to the estate. My family is very close (my father and my two other aunts) and they all have agreed since she printed that page but must not have clicked "add" that I should receive the IRA as per her wished. However, we don't know if the estate can disburse money to anyone other than her siblings (the next of kin). Is there a way to transfer the IRA to me, or must it be paid out to all of them (and made taxable) before they write checks to me after they receive the funds?
