What are your thoughts and feelings on the apostle John?

I see him as a lonely, but sensitive man imprisoned on the island of Patmos and in total astonishment and shock by the Lord's revelation and writing everything down with his scarred up hands from all the heinous torture he went through by being dunked in a huge pot of scalding, burning hot oil. Yet at the same time, I wish my faith was as strong as John's was, the very disciple that Jesus loved and who laid his head on Christ's . A symbol of humility and loyalty to the finish. An emotional man who, out of all the other apostles, died naturally. What a tear jerker! How do you feel about John, the apostle and what do you think of him?
